Cucurbita Maxima
Introducing the “Technicolored Dream Squash” a new breeding project emerging over the last two seasons. In 2021 we discovered a uniquely colored squash with a splotched color pattern resembling desert camouflage of baby blue, pink, salmon, light orange and darker blue. The squash was as unique as any we had seen and thus gained the nick name “The Technicolored Dream Squash”. We saved the seed and set out to understand the nature of diversity that formed this unique squash. In 2022 we planted out the seeds from this single specimen to observe it’s offspring. What sprung from this mother plant was a color palette that illuminated the fact that the genetics within the mother were representative of the last decade of plant breeding. The mother was the “calico kitty”of squash with the ability to create all colors of maxima you could think of. All babies retained the “Desert Camo” motif. and flavor was superb.
