Growing quality eggplant in our cold mountain farm soils has proven to be about as difficult as any annual vegetable we have approached. All eggplants we have tried, will unfortunately just sit in the soil growing at an excruciatingly slow pace while adjacent peppers and tomatoes grow incredibly. With challenge comes opportunity and thus we started the way we do with many vegetables. We collected as many “Ping Tong” shaped skinny banana shaped varieties that we could find and allowed them to flower together. We then selected for best performance. In the next generations we hoped to find some crosses that would increase the vigor and ultimately the production on the farm. In 2020 we finally had a great crop after 4 years of the ongoing project. We are excited to offer you the latest seed of our ongoing effort to create a reliable eggplant for our climate.
