Our alpine selection of this remarkable flour corn diversity. Montana farmer and seedsman Dave Christensen bred ‘Painted Mountain’ by allowing many Northern Native American heirlooms to flower together. Christensen selected for vigor and production during his short northern winter, yielding and incredibly vigorous variety. The ears are bright and beautiful and have a rich flavor excellent for eating fresh, ground, and made into delicious corn bread, tortillas or muffins. We have selected for more of the dark maroon kernels in our population due to their incredible flavor.
